The President of the United States and The Memphis City Council recognized Jerry Crawford's leadership abilities during the Pentagon rescue and recovery efforts. The Fire Fighters and the citizens alike would benefit from the experience by Chief Crawford as he led our men and women during one of our nations darkest moments.

Thanks for your input. I voted for him in Committee, but he only got 3 votes. It's not possible to reconsider since we approved the minutes too on that issue, unless 2/3 of the Council agrees (my understanding of the rules). Therefore, I'm doubtful that his appointment will be reviewed again. He seemed qualified and competent. Look forward to your input on future issues.

Mr. Norman, Thank you for your email. I supported Mr. Crawford in the vote at committee. Unfortunately the actions taken by the Council at the full meeting yesterday does not allow us to reconsider.

Joe, I did all I could do. Three of us voted for Jerry. I wish we could have had a 100 firefighters at the meeting yesterday. This entire deal this past week has been surreal. I will vote again for Jerry if the issue ever comes up again. Thanks for all you do to protect our city.
