Firefighters
Protect Themselves from Stray Bullets September 22, 2004 By: Tom Powell Memphis, TN -- The Memphis Fire Department is constructing concrete barriers at two of its stations. The barriers will protect firefighters from stray bullets. The department says Station #8 on Mississippi in South Memphis has seen several stray bullets come through the front window. Neighbors who live near the station say it's sad that it had to come to this. "I don't blame them. I wish my step-dad could put a brick wall up in his yard to protect him," says Felicia Davis. Another concrete barrier is under construction at Station #52 on Winchester in Hickory Hill. |
