Comments: To all my fellow Brothers: I wish to extend my sympathy to all the firefighters of Memphis and families of those that lost their lives doing a job we all love so much. It is as much a surprise as it is a shock to hear that a fellow brother was responsible. I am a 3rd generation firefighter in my family. Sitting around the family gatherings sharing stories of our jobs and sometimes the bum-luck of others, never once did we ever think or make mention of worrying about a brother doing harm to someone, much less one of his own. When we all go back to our assigned shift, may we all continue to work well with our shift personnel and may we all not have to worry about what one of them may do. Be proud to go back on shift and remember there are many people that look up to us and not just to us. My thoughts and prayers are with you all, and may we all continue to do a great job doing something we all love and are proud to do!

Comments: The sense of loss is so great as our own trusted firemen and police officer were gunned down in our own neighborhood. I remember many times going to the firehouse and have those firemen sing with us for our video scavenger hunts during college activities. I distinctly remember them letting us have rides in their truck. I will always cherish their contribution to my college life. Many times I meant to write them a thank you note, but now that it is too late I regret that I did not. May God enfold their families in His arms and surround them with His love. Everyday as I drive past that firehouse I will send a prayer for you. And to those firemen still laying their lives down, please know that I am praying for you as you go through this time. Crichton and its students appreciate all you do for us.

Comments: Our thoughts of sympathy and our prayers for strength go out to our comrades and their families in Memphis. Firefighters are America's last great untarnished heroes. Being a Firefighter carries with it an awesome responsibility. We all knew when we took our oath that the next incident may require us to make the ultimate sacrifice, but the news of a Firefighter's death can never be taken easy. We can fly our flags at half staff, we can put your names on plaques and remember you forever, but we can never bring you back. We have to remember that every time we lose a Firefighter, there is one less hero left in America. Memphis Fire Department, your families, and friends, our thoughts and prayers be with you. All of us who devote our lives to being first responders know that every day or each and every emergency call can be our last. That is not easy to live with. Dear Firemen, I live in Campbell, Missouri. My niece  lives 2 houses from Javier, and I am so touched about what has happened.
I wrote this for you.I sent a copy to the Memphis paper.  But I want you to see it.
                Fire Fighters & Policemen

Firefighters and policemen
This poem is for you
.Without your courage
What would we do?

Most people today
Have lives of their own,
Living them out
Or on the phone .

But you spend time
Where danger is there
Thanks be to God
You're both in His care.

Many of us
Are thinking of you
And we care about
The jobs you do.

If you didn't exist
What would life be,
Fragments of dreams
Gone out to sea.

But you are real,
Dreams do come true
Because of you both
Each day's born anew.
