RICHARD DEWAYNE HARRIS, 47, died Saturday at the Regional Medical Center from injuries received in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday, October 4, 2006. Born in Detroit, Michigan, son of John and Linnie Harris, both of Bartlett; his wife Ginger of Bartlett; his children, Michelle Horton of Atoka, TN, Richard Harris, Jr. of Atoka, TN and his step-children, Scott and Stephanie Kveseth. He also leaves three sisters, Ramona Gordin of Lakeland, Rhonda Willcox of Cordova and Paula Bradley, of San Francisco, CA. His brother, Michael, preceded him in death. Rick was a dedicated and devoted Memphis City Fire Fighter for 15 years where he spent the majority of his career at station 16, also known as Orange Mound. He received the metal of bravery after saving a child’s life. Rick’s greatest passion was motorcycle riding and friends. He made many “motorcycle runs” for charities and benefits for children, veterans, and many other. Rick owned and operated Harris & Sons Siding Co., Inc., which has been in business for nearly 30 years. We would like to recognize his best friend and our honorary brother, Phil Forbes. We will forever be indebted to you Phil. Rick has also ridden with the Boozefighter motorcycle Club for the past seven years. He has made friends across the United States. He worked hard and played harder. He will be missed by many and admired by all who knew his life to the fullest. “OWOF” In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale St, Memphis, TN. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 10 from 6-8 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church (North of Stage Rd.) Services will be Wednesday, October 11 at 1 p.m. at the church.
